Supervises: Service Clerks/Writers, Service Technicians, and Service Staff
Purpose:
Manages all aspects of the service department which includes maximizing the department’s return on assets, optimizing profitability, and increasing asset turnover. Will be responsible for assistance in recruiting, motivating, and retaining all departmental employees. Must provide and ensure exceptional service and support to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, communicates, and enforces effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
- Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives
- Develops and executes Service Department marketing plan; monitors to ensure achievement of departmental goals
- Monitors each technician’s recovery rate and productivity rate on a daily basis
- Submits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit
- Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge
- Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing and complete in a specified period of time
- Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order
- Provide and encourage a culture of personal development and career advancement with each employee.
- Maintain a positive attitude with employees, peers and customers
- Utilize a schedule board to schedule and assign work to all technicians
- Maintain a professional work environment (communication, clothing, etc.)
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
- 3+ years experience in Service Department operations
- Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and Internet functions
- Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
- Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
- Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations
- Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends
- Excellent customer service skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Valid driver’s license accepted on company insurance
